Frequently Asked Questions

Reach out on our Contact Us page and we can begin scheduling!

Our prices are different for each tutor, depending on their experience teaching and education level. Currently, our prices range from $50 - $65 per hour.

We offer sliding scale options and have a Pro-Bono Tutoring program where we offer some of our lessons for free! There are limited spots available, depending on tutor and volunteer tutor availability. Please reach out on our Contact Us page if you would like more information.

We offer weekly lessons and “drop-in” lessons, which are on an ad hoc basis. If you would prefer, we can add you to our drop-in list of students, and we will only schedule lessons when you want a bit of extra help. These sessions are at the same rate as weekly lessons.

No charge within 48 hours notice. Please directly reach out to your tutors if you would like to make a cancellation or reschedule your appointment. If messages are sent via text or email, the timestamp of the message will be honoured. For less than 48 hours notice, only 1 hour will be charged, even if the session was scheduled for 1.5+ hours.

We send invoices at the end of the month for the previous time period. These invoices are due within 2 weeks and we take payment via e-transfer to Clinton@LargeTutoring.com. We also accept payment via credit card on the invoice, however, e-transfer is the preferred method, if possible.

There is a late fee of 10% per month on all invoices that we have not received payment for past the due date. We do our best to send several reminders, and we know different families have different financial situations. We are flexible and will do our best to avoid late fees - reach out and stay in contact in these situations.

Yes! We treat these like drop-in lessons. Simply reach out and based on your tutor’s availability, we can schedule an extra lesson.

When you work with Large Tutoring, you have the support of the whole team! You will have a main tutor, but if they are ever away or you would like an extra lesson and they are not available, we can schedule a lesson with another tutor.

If these subjects are similar (taking Physics, Chemistry, and Math at the same time), your tutor will likely be able to help you with all of them! If you are taking a heavy course load and need help in several subjects, you may want to schedule 2 lessons a week.

If the subjects are different (ie. needing help in English and Calculus), you will likely need to set up 2 lessons a week, each with a different tutor. That way you can have an English expert help you with writing and a Calculus expert help you with your algebra.

Most of our lessons currently are online. Some of our tutors are offering lessons in-person (please see our COVID-19 post). In-person lessons can be done at the student’s home, they can also be done at local coffee shops and libraries. We work to find a location that works for both our tutors and students.

We offer group sessions as well! These are managed slightly differently, and it’s important that all the students are in the same course and are at similar levels.

Yes! We have a number of students that do a 1.5-hour session every week and split the time between two different people and others who alternate weeks. We recommend using the alternating week schedule so no lesson time is lost switching between the students.

We are taking volunteers! Reach out with a resume and cover letter at Clinton@LargeTutoring.com to be considered for the position.

If we are hiring, please follow the application details on the Careers page.

We can accommodate this schedule! Please let us know for how long you would like your weekly lesson so we can best coordinate. Especially with the new Quarter system in many schools, we have several students taking courses for only 2-3 quarters.

No! We are more than happy to just help you for the school year, only for the summer, or both! Just let us know when you reach out for how long you would be wanting lessons.
