COVID-19 Protocols for In-Person Lessons

The novel coronavirus causes the disease known as COVID-19, which is contagious and presents a risk of exposure anywhere that people are present. Scientific and public knowledge regarding the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 and associated risks is still developing and any current recommendations or understanding of the disease may change over time.

Consistent with British Columbia’s provincial government’s plan to allow businesses to reopen, Large Tutoring will continue to offer the option for in-person services. As such, we have taken measures to reduce the risk and spread of the coronavirus/COVID-19. We cannot guarantee that our students and tutors will not come into contact with other individuals who are infected with the coronavirus/COVID-19 or that any student or tutor will not become infected with the coronavirus/COVID-19.

The following points outline the steps we are taking to best protect our students, tutors, and team:

  • In-Person lessons can only take place if both the student and the tutor have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine plus two weeks. Following the Government of British Columbia’s guidelines, both the student and tutor will need to have their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine plus seven days by October 24, 2021. Exemptions can be granted for those ineligible for the vaccine with proof of a medical exemption from a medical doctor in good standing. Failure to comply with COVID-19 vaccinations will result in the student undertaking online lessons.

  • In-person lessons will only take place if both the student and the tutor feel comfortable and agree to the lesson. We will not force our students or tutors to conduct in-person lessons. Virtual lessons have been very effective for our students and those will continue if either the student or the tutor does not want to conduct an in-person lesson.

  • If in-person lessons are mutually agreed upon by the student and the tutor, both the student and the tutor will have to sign a waiver that they will not hold Large Tutoring or any of its affiliates liable if an individual was to contract the virus. We will not force any individual to sign the waiver and will continue virtual lessons instead. If the student is under the age of 19, their parent/guardian will have to sign the waiver for the student ONLY if the student will like to conduct in-person lessons.

  • In order for in-person lessons to take place, a screening form will have to be signed and dated by both the tutor and student (or guardian if the student is under the age of 19) that asks if the individual has symptoms, is waiting for results of the COVID-19 test, has contracted the COVID-19 virus, and if they have left the country within the last 14 days. The lesson will only commence with the satisfactory completion of the screening form for both the tutor and the student (1 form each).

  • If a student or tutor has symptoms, is waiting on the results of the COVID-19 test or has contracted the COVID-19 virus, there will be no late cancellation fee applied and the session will be rescheduled.

  • Masks will only be mandatory for both the student and the tutor provided that one party prefers to wear them. Large Tutoring will not supply the masks. In the case where both student and tutor are comfortable proceeding without a mask there is no obligation for either to wear one.

  • If the student does not have a mask for the session, but the tutor prefers to do the lesson with a mask, the tutor will not complete the session and the student will be charged a late-cancellation fee of 1-hour.

  • Although the student and tutor cannot maintain the 2-metre recommended physical distancing, the tutor will, to the best of their ability, maintain a 2-metre distance from any other individual

  • Students must inform us of any confirmed cases at their school or any places they’ve been to, such as restaurants. We may suspend lessons for 2-3+ weeks if we deem necessary. Willful neglect to inform us of such confirmed cases may result in an indefinite suspension of all future lessons.

  • Large Tutoring retains the right to change these guidelines without written notice to its staff or students and decide how best to enforce these guidelines.

These policies have been put in place to best protect Large Tutoring and its affiliates, as well as to reduce the spread of COVID-19. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Clinton Large at Clinton@LargeTutoring.com or 778-325-HELP (4357).
